Sourcing and Update Policy

Last reviewed November 3, 2026

Useful guides make it possible to check where information came from and understand how current it is. These are the sourcing and date conventions for this site.

Start with the source closest to the claim

For preparedness and hazards, prefer the responsible government agency or a recognised specialist organisation. For streaming dates, use official studio, service, or distributor announcements for the stated country. For driving access, use road authorities, park agencies, or the responsible land manager.

Research and industry reports can support broader claims when their date, population, and limitations are relevant. Personal experience and opinion should be identifiable as such. Links are provided for readers to inspect the evidence, not to imply an endorsement or partnership.

Explain the research behind a guide

Important guides include a “How this guide was researched” note and links to their sources. A note identifies whether the article draws on agency guidance, official schedules, industry research, or practical editorial suggestions. It is not evidence of a fresh review on the day a reader opens the page.

If a source is unavailable or does not support a claim, the claim should be narrowed, qualified, removed, or left unpublished. An HTTP success response alone does not verify the contents of a source.

Use dates that mean something

Published is the date the article first appeared. Updated is shown only for a recorded substantive revision after publication. Last verified describes a documented source check and its stated scope. These dates can differ.

We do not make an article appear newer by changing its date after a design, navigation, metadata, or author-link edit. Source observations and incident timestamps are separate from website publication dates.

What prompts a review

Confirmed errors, major source changes, new official guidance, and changes to a covered product or schedule can trigger a review. Time-sensitive guides identify their period and geography; older editions remain dated archives.

No article is continuously monitored. Before acting on changing conditions, check the responsible agency, current road or park notices, or the streaming provider in your region.
